How to be rid of Huge Entertainment Center?

Monica P asked:

I have a huge entertainment center in family room. It holds kid’s tv (for playstation only) about 2-3 shelves of books, tons (over 300) video tapes, DVD’s (about 100), photo albums and some nick nacks. I’ve been so hesitant to get rid of it because I wouldn’t even begin to know where to store all the stuff in individual pieces of furniture. I’m lousy at decorating and want my home to look nice – how can I get rid of this beast? Ideas for furniture pieces? Thank you.

You could offer it on free cycle. Google for a group in your area and someone will gladly come and take it away. Also Craigs list just offer it for free. The previous poster is right you have to get rid of the stuff and decide how much of it do you really want to keep. For what’s left you may have to decide where to put some book shelves around the house. Why do you want to get rid of the entertainment center?

do you have room for a cute bench or cubes with a hinged top and pretty fabric pads or removable cushions? Or one that could also double as a coffee table. yes, maybe first go through everything and if the kids havent watched one in a year or two then give away or sell on ebay or craigslist. Look for duplicates of any movies, too. Speakin of craigslist, take a digital photo and put an ad on craigslist for free or a reasonable amount. If you dont want to deliver, say ‘you remove and haul’ or you can offer to deliver for 25 bucks or so, within a certain distance.

You could call your local Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity.
